Pugs could sometimes smell bad for many reasons, like the accumulation of dirt on the folds of their skin, a common occurrence indeed. Oral infection caused due to excessive drooling, tartar build-up, or bleeding gums, as well as an ear infection, may also make them smell bad or unpleasant. Grooming them regularly by combing their coat, cleaning their skin folds, brushing their teeth, and wiping their eyes and ears using a cotton ball would keep them clean.
If their smell persists even after you have cleaned them well or in case you notice other symptoms like excessive lethargy or unwillingness towards eating, contact the veterinarian at the earliest.
