Pugs do not have a reputation of running fast, their short nose and flat face, alongside stubby legs being some of the reasons. Most pugs can run from 5 to 10 miles per hour on average.
Emma clinched the title of the world’s fastest pug at the 9th International Pug Meeting held in Germany on the 18th of August 2018, at the age of 4. Nicknamed the ‘Usain Bolt of pugs’, this was the third time in a row that she achieved this fame by covering 50 meters in just 5.866 seconds.
True that a pug cannot run as fast as a greyhound or Saluki, yet, some could still surprise you by running at their own pace in the garden, maybe after a bird or something else. No two pugs are alike in running abilities that vary according to their age, overall health, activity level, and overall body stature.
